[Institution] Asset Portfolio and Entity FAQ
1. What is a Portfolio
A Portfolio is an asset management unit under the Institution page, attached to a specific institution. It is essentially a “container” that links multiple Accounts (such as Funding accounts) under one or more Entities, used to centrally manage and display the overall configuration, status, and fund situation of this group of accounts. Each Portfolio has a unique Portfolio ID and is bound to the Institution ID it belongs to. Through a Portfolio, operations and risk control staff do not need to check the configuration of each account individually; instead, they can view the consolidated information of all accounts under a client in a single view. In short, a Portfolio is the management layer that connects “Client/Institution — Entity — Account” in this chain.
2. What is an Entity
An Entity refers to the legal or business entity that an account actually belongs to, for example Bermuda or Australia. Under the same Institution, accounts may be opened under multiple legal entities due to business, regulatory, or regional reasons — for instance, the same client may have a Funding account under the Bermuda entity, and also open another account under the Australia entity. An Entity is the direct owner of an account; each Account belongs uniquely to one Entity. A Portfolio, however, can span multiple entities, aggregating a client’s accounts across different entities into a single, unified management view. To understand the relationship between Entity and Portfolio: the Institution represents the client itself, the Entity represents the client’s “identity” under different legal entities, the Account is the container that actually holds assets under each identity, and the Portfolio packages these identities and accounts together into a unified operational view. In the Portfolio details pop-up, if a Portfolio is associated with multiple entities, the entity names (e.g., Bermuda, Australia) will appear as switchable tabs, making it easy to view which accounts exist under each entity.
3. How to switch between Portfolios and Entities
At the top right of the window, the name of the Institution that the Portfolio belongs to is displayed. Clicking the dropdown arrow shows the list of Portfolios currently available to view; you can select a specific Portfolio by clicking it directly, or by searching for it in the search box first. After selecting a specific Portfolio, a second-level option will appear, allowing you to choose between different Entities — namely Australia and Bermuda — and users can select the Entity as needed.
4. How to disable and restore a Portfolio
Under Setting → Business Info, you can view the current Portfolios. A specific Portfolio can be disabled: clicking “Disable” triggers a confirmation pop-up showing the Portfolio ID and requiring the user to enter a reason for the action, to prevent accidental operations and enable later traceability. Once confirmed, the Portfolio status changes to Inactive (red dot). Once a Portfolio is disabled, all business operations under it (trading, deposits, configuration changes, etc.) will no longer be possible; the only capability retained is the ability to transfer out existing funds from the accounts, preventing funds from being “locked.”
When the Portfolio needs to be restored to normal use, please contact [email protected] so that operations staff can re-enable it via the system admin backend. This capability will later be opened up for users to self-operate as needed.
5. How to transfer funds between Portfolios
Click the “Transfer” entry point, and in the pop-up window you can transfer funds between different Portfolios. Please note that the Transfer function currently only allows transfers within the same compliant Entity, and cross-entity transfers are not supported. In addition, a disabled Portfolio cannot receive incoming transfers.
