Challenge

Remittance that stops at delivery

The global remittance market approached $1 trillion in 2025, with average transaction costs still above 5% per transfer according to World Bank and Visa data — a persistent tax on diaspora communities sending money home.

Cost is only half the problem. Most remittance solutions stop at delivery. The recipient still has to visit an agent, withdraw cash, or wait before the money is usable. Blipply set out to close both gaps at once: make the transfer instant, and make what arrives immediately spendable.

Doing that meant solving the hardest part first — the first mile. Converting local currency into digital dollars, in every market Blipply serves, under the full regulatory requirements of each jurisdiction, is not something a fintech can build alone at speed.

Solution

Regulated first-mile infrastructure from Banxa

Banxa provides the regulated fiat-crypto ramp that funds the Blipply wallet. Users across Europe and North America convert 30+ local fiat currencies into digital dollars inside the Blipply app. Banxa handles the fiat conversion and the compliance that goes with it — AML and CFT obligations in each jurisdiction. Once in the wallet, transfer and spend layers are fulfilled Blipply.

The result is one continuous corridor rather than a chain of handoffs:

  • Fund. Convert local currency to digital dollars in-app, on regulated rails.

  • Send. Transfer to anyone on the Blipply network globally, in real time.

  • Spend. Recipients pay by QR or virtual card, or hold funds in their self-managed wallet. No branch visit, no cash withdrawal, no waiting.

Behind it sits Banxa's regulatory footprint — licences and registrations across most US states, Canada, Europe, the UK, and Asia-Pacific, including MiCA authorisation as in the EU — and support for 300+ cryptocurrencies including 45+ stablecoins.

"This partnership enables something the remittance market has never truly delivered. Money that arrives in seconds and is instantly ready to spend, via a virtual card, online or via tap-to-pay in stores. No branch visit. No cash withdrawal. No waiting. Sent, received and spendable in seconds," said Andreas Lalangas, Founder and CEO, Blipply AB.

Results

From consumer remittance to business payments

The consumer partnership launched in May 2026. Within months it extended into a second product line: B2B fiat-to-stablecoin on- and off-ramping for Blipply's micro business customers, who now convert local currencies to and from stablecoins directly inside the platform to manage supplier settlement and treasury flows.

Because the single Banxa API, regulated rails, compliance coverage and settlement infrastructure were already in place from the consumer product, the business channel went live in days rather than weeks — an extension of an existing integration rather than a new build.

Remittance is one of the strongest applications for stablecoin technology, and we're proud to power Blipply's first-mile capabilities across Europe and North America.

The partnership also rides a market moving fast underneath it. Visa's Onchain Analytics, built with Allium Labs, recorded adjusted stablecoin transaction volume of US$1.79 trillion in June 2026 — a new monthly record, up 63% from May and up 125% year-over-year — capping a first half of 2026 that totaled US$8.82 trillion in adjusted volume, already ahead of the US$5.8 trillion recorded across all of 2024. On a broader, unadjusted basis, Artemis Analytics data reported by Bloomberg shows total stablecoin transaction volumes rose 72% to US$33 trillion in 2025.

Banxa's own stablecoin total transaction value outpaced that broader trend, growing 117% between January and August 2026 — reinforcing Banxa's position as one the world's leading stablecoin ramp infrastructure providers.
