OSL: Account Setup and Verification Guide

Mar 16, 2026
Mar 16, 2026
Learn how to open an OSL account, complete KYC identity verification, submit proof of address, and set up 2FA for secure digital asset trading.

To fulfill the stringent regulatory requirements of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and to ensure the absolute security of your account and assets, all OSL users must complete a rigorous Know Your Customer (KYC) identity verification and account activation process prior to initiating deposits, withdrawals, or trading.

1. Pre-Registration Checklist & Account Creation

Before commencing, please prepare the following documents to ensure a seamless process: Original valid identity document, bank account information under your identical name, and a valid Proof of Address (POA) issued within the last three months (e.g., utility bill, bank statement).

  • Registration Portal: You may register via the official OSL website or the mobile application (App).

  • Operational Guidelines: Enter a valid email address or mobile number and set a strong login password. The initial registration process typically takes only 3 to 5 minutes.

2. Identity Verification (KYC) & Document Submission

Before entering the KYC process, please follow the system prompts to complete document uploading and facial recognition verification:

  • Identity Document: Original valid identity document (Hong Kong Identity Card or valid passport).

  • Note: Account opening is currently not supported for residents of Mainland China, the United States, and sanctioned jurisdictions.

  • Same-Name Bank Account: Prepare a bank account in Hong Kong or a supported overseas region that exactly matches your registered name. This will be used for subsequent identity cross-verification and fund transfers.

  • Proof of Address (POA): Must strictly adhere to compliance standards, as detailed in the following section.

3. Proof of Address (POA) Submission Standards

Proof of Address is a critical component of the KYC review. To ensure prompt approval, please verify that your document meets the following criteria:

① Accepted Document Types (Must be issued within the last 3 months)

  • Utility Bills: Such as electricity, water, or gas bills.

  • Financial Institution Documents: Such as bank statements, credit card statements, or Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) statements/notices.

  • Government Documents: Such as Inland Revenue Department tax assessments, rates demands, or Government rent demands.

② Image and Information Consistency Requirements

  • Name Consistency: The name on the bill must perfectly match the name on your submitted identity document.

  • Complete Image: Ensure the first page of the document is fully visible upon upload (all four corners must be clearly visible). Do not fold the document or obscure any critical information.

4. Investment Risk Assessment

Following the submission of identity documents, the system will guide you through a brief Investment Risk Tolerance and Virtual Asset Knowledge Assessment.

  • Compliance Necessity: This is a standard compliance procedure mandated by the SFC, designed to evaluate your investment experience and ensure the provision of suitable digital asset services.

  • Efficient Experience: The questionnaire is concisely designed and takes approximately 1 minute to complete.

5. Account Activation (Online/Offline Same-Name Bank Verification)

Upon successful review of your identity documents, your account will enter a "Pending Activation" status. To safeguard funds and meet regulatory requirements, you must conduct a cross-verification of funds via your bank account to officially activate your OSL account.

  • Online Verification (Highly Recommended): Initiate a first-time fiat deposit of no less than HK$10,000 (or USD equivalent) to OSL using a same-name bank account under your personal name.

  • Core Objective: These funds will be fully credited to your OSL trading account as your initial investment capital. The primary purpose of this transaction is to verify through the banking system that the transferring account belongs to you. Successful crediting of funds signifies successful account activation.

  • Offline Verification (CTC): If online transfer is inconvenient, you may contact your dedicated Relationship Manager (RM) or OSL official customer service to schedule an appointment. Bring your original identity document and Proof of Address (POA) to the OSL Hong Kong office at the agreed time for offline identity verification.

6. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Setup

Once your account is successfully activated, you must enable 2FA verification before proceeding with official deposits, withdrawals, and trading. This is a mandatory security prerequisite for subsequently binding bank cards, transferring funds, and executing trades.

1. Download Application: Navigate to your app store, search for, and download the official Google Authenticator.

2. Obtain Key: Log in to the OSL App, access [Security Settings] to enable Two-Factor Authentication, and click [Copy] for the system-generated exclusive key or scan the QR code.

3. Bind Authenticator: Open Google Authenticator, tap the "+" icon in the bottom right corner, select [Enter a setup key], input "OSL" as the account name, and paste your copied long-character key into the key field.

4. Confirm Activation: Enter the 6-digit dynamic security code generated in the authenticator back into the OSL App to confirm. Upon completing this step, your account will be equipped with institutional-grade security protection.
